DAY 1 Cooktown to Old Laura Homestead, through Lakefield National Park and Kalpowar Crossing
Camp in Lakefield National Park or at the Hann River Roadhouse campground

Features: Lakefield National Park (wetlands said to rival those of Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory; open spaces, interesting vegetation & river crossings; opportunity to spot wildlife, including freshwater & estuarine crocodiles)

Option: Accommodation at Lotus Bird Lodge includes breakfast & Dinner. Glorious outlook from your own cabin over the billabong. Excellent for nature lovers, birdwatching. Terrific food & lovely accommodation)

DAY 2 Kalpowar Crossing (Or Lotus Bird Lodge) to Moreton Telegraph Station

Features: Nifold Plain, spotting for Star finches, traveling through Lakefield National Park, historic Telegraph station- integral part of early communications through the remote Cape York Peninsula

Camp at Moreton Telegraph Station

Option: Accommodation in permanent safari style tents at Moreton

DAY 3 Moreton Telegraph Station to Punsand Bay, travel the Southern Bypass and cross the mighty Jardine River on the Ferry

Features: Jardine River & Ferry, fabulous landscapes & wildlife spotting

DAY 4 Thursday Island tour & free time (included in tour cost)

Features: Fascinating insight in to Thursday Islander culture & lifestyle. Ferry trip to Thursday Island

DAY 5 Relax & enjoy a day at the top of Cape York. Rest, relax, take a fishing trip, and walk along the beautiful Punsand Bay Beach

Features: Magnificent sunsets, lovely beach, quiet & peaceful, relaxing & absorbing the atmosphere of remote Cape York Peninsula

DAY 6 Punsand Bay to Moreton Telegraph Station
Camp at Moreton
Features: Wide open spaces, fascinating vegetation, wildlife & bird spotting

Option: Accommodation in permanent safari style tents

Day 7 Moreton to Weipa - optional town & Mine Tour-
Features: interesting bauxite mine, Western Cape Aboriginal Cultural Centre, shopping centre
Camp at Weipa

DAY 8 Weipa to Musgrave
Camp at Musgrave (Option: Accommodation in motel style demountable rooms)

DAY 9 Musgrave to Cooktown, visit the fantastic Quinkan & Region Cultural Centre, Split Rock Aboriginal Art Site, then Lakeland Downs before arriving in Cooktown in the late afternoon
